We Were Here Tomorrow Floppy Disk Puzzle Solution (stuck in the 3D printer, size swap)

Updated 21 Oct 2026 · Game version: Launch build (October 2026) ·

The answer in one line

Nothing inside opens the floppy walls. The small player walks back out to the start, gets enlarged, then the other player shrinks and goes in. The new big player works the console outside, which starts the spinning-dial puzzle that lowers floppy 01.

This is the same in every playthrough: the 01 floppy wall appeared in two separate sessions. The steps are below.

Inside the circuit machine, a giant black floppy disc labelled 01 stands between chip-shaped walls, with a red and an orange light beside it and a yellow arrow on the floor

Where the puzzle is

Research & Development, right after the chemical resin (canister) puzzle. The player who was shrunk first (yellow in our session) crawls into a long circuit-board machine; the other player (red) stays full size in the lab.

Inside, the path turns a couple of corners and drops the small player into a pit. Two giant black floppy discs stand in the way like walls; one is labelled 01, with red and orange lights beside it and a yellow arrow on the floor pointing at it.

What you need

  • Both players. No items to carry: the small floppy you might find is too small for the slot outside.

Step by step

  1. Yellow (small, inside): describe what blocks you

Tell your partner you are in a pit with two floppy-disc walls and no buttons. Nothing in there can be used, and you can't climb or jump across the gap. That is on purpose: the walls are lowered from outside.

  2. Red (big, outside): check the console

The console outside has a floppy slot, a green monitor that shows the inside of the machine, and two buttons. Say what you see. If nothing happens when you press things, you are stuck in the same place we were: you need to trade sizes.

  3. Yellow: walk back out the way you came

Go back to the start of the machine. The way out returns you to the small chamber next to the shrink machine (the players called it the microwave).

  4. Red: enlarge your partner, then let them out

Use the shrink / enlarge machine controls to make yellow full size again, then open the chamber.

  5. Swap: red goes into the shrink tube

Red steps into the red-lit shrink tube and yellow works the controls. Red comes out tiny. Say "I'm in, pull it" so your partner knows when to start.

  6. Red (now small) goes in; yellow (now big) takes the console

The small player climbs back into the machine (up the books and through the little tube). The big player goes to the console with the monitor and buttons. From here it is the spinning-dial puzzle, which opens floppy 01.

If it doesn’t work

I'm small and stuck in the pit. Is there a hidden button?
We found none. Both players searched for over ten minutes. The floppy walls only go down after the size swap and the dial puzzle outside.
Can I carry the small floppy disc to the slot?
No. It is too small for the slot on the outside console. Don't spend time on it.
How do I get back to the shrink machine?
Walk back through the machine the way you came in. In our session this brought the small player out at the chamber next to the shrink machine. We did not see this on a clean frame, so look around the exit if it is not obvious.
