We Were Here Tomorrow Ring Symbol Door (Rift Energy ring tunnel)

Updated 21 Oct 2026 · Game version: Launch build (October 2026) ·

The answer in one line

The door player pulls the lever and reads the three symbols on the screens in order. The ring player walks the tunnel, finds the ring whose outside symbol matches each one, and presses that ring's button in the same order. In our session the symbols were eight small circles around a big circle, then a crosshair with arrows pointing out, then a striped circle overlapping a hollow circle, which meant ring 4, ring 1, ring 5.

We have only one session of this puzzle, so your symbols and ring numbers may differ. The method is what matters.

Inside the ring tunnel: a pink walkway runs through a line of rings, the nearest labelled RING-02 and the next RING-03

Where the puzzle is

Right after the laser and crystal puzzle. Back in the big hall, a lever pair (both of you pull, and say when you are fully pulled) tilts the red platform and opens the way on.

One explorer ends up in an office-style corridor with a RIFT ENERGY poster from NORCEK INDUSTRIES and a sealed door with three screens above it. The other walks a long tunnel of rings; the rings have number plates such as RING-02 and RING-03.

What you need

  • Nothing to carry. Both players on the walkie-talkie, and something to note three symbols on.

Step by step

  1. Door player: pull the lever and read the three symbols

At the sealed door, pull the lever. The three screens show one symbol each, then go dark, so describe them to your partner straight away and in order (left to right). Use plain shapes: count the small circles, say which way arrows point, and say whether a circle is striped, hollow or has an outer ring.

  2. Ring player: describe each ring's outside symbol

Walk the tunnel from the first ring. Each ring carries a number plate and a symbol on its outside, and has buttons on its inside. Call out every ring as you pass it: ring number, then the symbol. The door player says stop when one matches.

  3. Watch for the look-alike rings

Two rings can carry nearly the same symbol. In our session the striped-and-hollow pair appeared twice: on one ring the striped circle also had an outer ring, on the other it was made of stripes only. Ask your partner whether the striped circle has an outer ring before pressing.

  4. Ring player: press the buttons in the door's order

Press the button inside the first matching ring, then the second, then the third. Each ring had two buttons in our session and both did the same thing. After the third correct press the door opens, and the ring player's way out opens after the last ring.

If it doesn’t work

I can't walk back through the rings.
In our session an invisible barrier blocked the way back after a button was pressed, then let the player through again at another ring. Keep walking forward and ask your partner to read the symbols again instead of going back to check.
We pressed three rings and the door stayed shut.
Most likely one ring was the look-alike. Recheck the striped symbol: stripes only, or stripes with an outer ring. Then press the three rings again in order.
The screens went dark before I could read them.
Write the three symbols down the moment the screens light up. If you missed them, try the lever again.
Is the answer always ring 4, ring 1, ring 5?
We don't know yet. We saw this puzzle in one session only, and the no-commentary playthrough we use for comparison stops before it. Other puzzles in this game change their symbols per playthrough, so always read your own door.
