We Were Here Tomorrow Spinning Dials Puzzle Solution (lock in the four lights)

Updated 21 Oct 2026 · Game version: Launch build (October 2026) ·

The answer in one line

The small player inside reads the four still pointers on their little screen. The big player outside watches the four spinning dials and locks each one when it points the same way. Light colours: orange = not set, yellow = being set, blue-white = locked. Stage 2 repeats it with 45° steps.

The targets are not fixed, so read your own. In our session stage 2 was top-left, top-right, left, bottom-left.

The outside console: two panels, each with four orange lights over four black dials, two big round buttons ringed with blue light, a floppy slot and a green monitor in the middle

Where the puzzle is

Right after the size swap in Research & Development. The small player (red in our session) is inside the circuit machine at a tiny console with a green screen and a two-handled lever. The big player (yellow) is at the console outside, which has two panels, each with four lights over four black dials, a big round button, a floppy slot and a monitor.

Solving stage 1 opens floppy door 01 inside the machine. Stage 2 is the second panel, and the small player moves on to the next window.

What you need

  • Both players and the walkie-talkie. Timing matters, so agree on a countdown first.

Step by step

  1. Red (inside): read the four target pointers

Your little green screen shows four round dials with white pointers. They don't move. Read them left to right as up / right / down / left, for example "down, down, right, left". Those are the targets.

The small player's console inside the machine: a green screen with four round dials and white pointers, four small lamps on top, and a yellow two-handled lever held in red gloves

  2. Yellow (outside): watch the spinning dials

On your panel the four dials turn together, a quarter turn at a time. You can't turn them by hand. The light over the dial you are setting is yellow; the rest are orange.

  3. Lock one dial at a time

When the yellow-lit dial points at the target red called, lock it. The lock happens two or three seconds after you act, and the dial keeps turning in that time, so act one step early. Say "three, two, now" over the walkie-talkie. A locked light turns blue-white.

  4. Finish all four

When all four lights are blue-white you hear a happy sound and floppy door 01 opens inside the machine.

  5. Stage 2: the second panel, 45° steps

Red moves to the next window and reads the new targets. This time the dials stop in eight directions, so use words like "top-left" and "bottom-left". In our session the targets were top-left, top-right, left, bottom-left. Lock them the same way.

If it doesn’t work

Who sees the target, and who locks it?
The small player's screen shows the still target pointers. The big player's dials are the ones spinning. Our streamers first tried it the other way round and it failed. We are less sure which control does the lock: the frames show the big player on the INTERACT button while lights turn blue, and the small player holding the lever. If one doesn't work, try the other.
We missed, and now the targets are different.
The players saw the targets change after a miss. Ask red to read the screen again after every miss; don't reuse old directions.
I let go exactly on time and it still picked the wrong direction.
There is a delay of a couple of seconds before the lock, and the dial moves one more step. Act one step before the target.
Is the answer always the same?
No. Use the method. The stage-2 directions above are only what we saw in one session.
